An international personality is endorsing a hair loss shampoo. People are making fun of the tv commercial because of the way the personality pronounced the word “falling”. He said “pulling” instead. It’s just his dialect accent getting in the way. He’s a Bisaya.

When my sister and I were talking about it, we also laughed. But then when we analyzed it, we realized that it’s just our race being so self-conscious about grammar and pronunciation. Other races don’t think of it as much. It is both an advantage and a disadvantage for us because when you think about it, we are so self-conscious that we tend to get tongue tied speaking in a foreign language even though we know how. It’s because we are afraid to be criticized if there was a wrong grammar in the sentence we just uttered or that we might pronounce a word the wrong way.

I do believe we should be more lenient with the way we view others. As long as we can convey the message across, right?
