I hate how my dad reacts when we correct him. He either ignores it like he doesn’t hear anything or he would sulk! He’s 53 for crying out loud! Do we really need to correct him all the time? He still smokes a lot and drinks a lot when he knows he has heart problems. He even has arthritis and who knows what else! He’s not getting any younger and he knows I don’t have enough right now to finance a trip to the hospital but he still insists on his wrong ways. Nakakainis!
Last night, we just told him to go slow on the drinking. Instead of planning to go to mom’s grave, he is clearly more excited to plan for the day of drinking. Even without food in his stomach, he’d hit the bottle! Bad trip lang sobra! Sure, he does not do this all the time. He drinks when there are parties or when we visit mom’s grave or go on vacations. But I know he can stop because he already did it before. He cannot tell us it’s his way to cope because it’s not. He’s just a stubborn old fool who does not care if his kids will suffer if something bad happens to him!
